Building on the popularity of the four-year Cybersecurity degree, the College has developed a new Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Analytics program, which launched Fall 2025.
The degree is unique within SUNY due to its focus on AI and the ability to be completed entirely online.
“The program fits hand-in-hand with our highly successful Cybersecurity program and offers students a deeper dive into the expanding world of artificial intelligence,” President Szafran said. “It prepares graduates with the skills needed for a wide range of high-paying jobs.”
Canton Cybersecurity Department Chair and Professor Dr. Kambiz Ghazinour said the degree was conceptualized after the department began introducing data science courses to the Cybersecurity program to strengthen the curriculum.
“The interest was so great that the faculty members created a minor and then began the process of adding a new baccalaureate- level program.”
The program has already exceeded enrollment projections with 35 students accepted in its inaugural semester.
