Ithaca College Alumni Council

Representing the college’s 75,000+ alumni, the Ithaca College Alumni Council serves in an advisory capacity and helps guide the college’s efforts to create a vibrant, dynamic alumni community with strong ties to the college and each other.

Members of the council may serve for up to 2 consecutive terms of 3 years each. The membership committee reviews applications for new members on an annual basis.

The current deadline to apply to serve or to recommend a fellow alum for the council is December 31, 2025. Terms begin on July 1.

The ICAC is a group of more than 20 members who meet twice a year on campus to provide support, perspective, and advice to the Office of Alumni Engagement team. In partnership with IC staff, we serve as ambassadors and advocates for IC, working to engage alumni with each other and with our alma mater.

Qualifications include: background, knowledge, and experience necessary to make a meaningful contribution to council activities; the ability to commit the time necessary to make a meaningful contribution; a demonstrated record of involvement in alumni activities and College events; and a record of giving to Ithaca College. Only alumni who are not currently employed by the college are eligible for consideration.

As ambassadors for IC, we communicate regularly with alumni in our area, fellow graduates from our respective schools, classmates, teammates, and friends. We keep them abreast of all that is happening on campus and work with the staff to develop programs such as Alumni Weekend, networking events, the IC Career Network, and regional programs that appeal to alumni and keep them connected to IC and current students. In addition, we recognize the achievements of our fellow graduates—who by their own actions bring honor to Ithaca College—by conferring annual alumni awards in a number of categories.

The council meets bi-monthly via zoom and twice annually in person on campus. Council members are expected to serve on at least one of the council committees:

  • Alumni Awards
  • Bylaws
  • Communications
  • Development
  • Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging
  • Events & Clubs
  • Membership
  • Professional Development and Life Stages

As council members, we not only have the opportunity to connect with the Ithaca College of today, but we also receive invitations to special events on campus and have an insider’s view of what makes IC the terrific place we all know and love. Last, serving with fellow alumni on the council is a true pleasure—getting to know alumni from different years, different schools, and from different parts of the country is a lot of fun. And it’s always great to go back to campus and the Ithaca area.
