Gideon Harianja ’23, orthopedic surgery resident PGY-3, ran the Zion 100 Mile Ultra Marathon April 12–13. He said 24-hour hospital call shifts helped train him because ultras require stamina and mental fortitude in the face of exhaustion. He wrestled with self-doubt at mile 70, convinced he would quit. He cried as he crossed the finish line. It took Harianja 35 hours.
