Elmar Sakala ’73-B was awarded the 2025 Walla Walla University (WWU) Alumnus of the Year Award during its homecoming weekend. “We are proud to recognize Dr. Sakala for a lifetime of dedication to advancing health care and inspiring future professionals,” said Dr. John McVay, president of WWU. The weekend marked Sakala’s 60th class anniversary, where he also presented a lecture titled “Practicing the Power of Gratitude.” Sakala is a professor emeritus at Loma Linda School of Medicine, department of obstetrics and gynecology.
