LLUSM NEWS: Faculty Recognized at the 2025 Commencement
Richard H. Hart ’70, DrPH, Loma Linda University president, and Tamara L. Thomas ’ 87, dean of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, presented awards to faculty members at Commencement and the 2025 Senior Awards banquet.

Teacher of the Year Awards
(Left) During the Senior Awards Banquet, the Macpherson Society announced Shammah Williams ’11 as Basic Science Teacher of the Year and Jayaram Chandrasekar, DO, as Clinical Teacher of the Year for their excellence in care of students and exceptional dedication to teaching. Penelope Duerksen-Hughes, PhD, presented Kerby Oberg ’91, PhD, the R. Bruce Wilcox Mentor of the Year Award for demonstrating exemplary graduate student mentorship.
