This award recognizes individuals who generously give their time, energy, and talents to strengthen alumni engagement, foster meaningful connections, and support future generations of Saint Mary’s students. Recipients exemplify lifelong ambassadorship and a deep commitment to service, demonstrating leadership and enthusiasm that inspires others to stay connected and involved.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award honors a degreed alumnus/a of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota who has achieved outstanding success in their chosen profession and whose career reflects the Lasallian values of leadership, mentorship, and service to others. This award celebrates alumni whose professional excellence has made a meaningful impact on their field and strengthened the communities they serve. Recipients exemplify integrity, influence, and a commitment to using their talents to improve the lives of others.

• Meaningful contributions to community improvement
• Significant impact, leadership, and/or recognition within their profession

The purpose of the Saint Mary’s University Sports Hall of Fame is to honor persons or teams who have made outstanding contributions to the Saint Mary’s intercollegiate athletic department as athletes, coaches, or administrators. Awarded during a spring ceremony and dinner each spring.

Award Criteria:

• An athlete must have attended Saint Mary’s University for a minimum of four semesters.
• An athlete’s class must have graduated at least ten years prior to selection.
• A coach or administrator must have served at Saint Mary’s a minimum of five years. Five years must have elapsed since a nominee last served at Saint Mary’s in that capacity. If currently serving at Saint Mary’s at the time of nomination, the nominee must have 20 years of continuous service.
• A Hall of Fame nominee will have shown athletic and academic skills, teamwork, leadership, character or other attributes of the ideal Saint Mary’s University student-athlete
