Meet Linden Waldorf School Class of 2015 alum Felix Arwen. Felix is a Softgoods Engineering Technologist at NASA, where he designs and sews the outer layers of space suits. His work will launch on the Artemis Il mission in 2026—the first crewed trip around the moon in over 50 years. After high school, he graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2023. Felix says,
“Waldorf education helped me approach learning in a different way. My inclination to say yes to things was ingrained at Linden.” He recalls a physics main lesson, where a darkened classroom and a single pinhole of light sparked his fascination with how the world works. That blend of curiosity and creativity guided him from RISD to an internship with NASA.
Felix credits his Waldorf education for his love of learning and the technical precision he first honed through music. He still enjoys showing off the juggling and stilt-walking skills learned at Linden!

That beard! Portland Waldorf School alum, photographer, and entrepreneur Madison Rowley, Class of 2004, has built a successful 15+ year freelance career in the film industry, working on creative projects like Rides and Baba G. Madison attributes much of his ability to tackle challenges and pursue new opportunities with confidence to the foundation he received from his Waldorf education.
Not surprisingly, Madison is also known for his impressive beard, which he has been growing for over 6 years! He has won 2 World Beard Championships and built a large social media following. His creative self-expression continues to open unexpected opportunities and connect him with communities around the world.
Most recently, Madison has ventured into cider making. Together with his friend Alan Adams, he founded a small hobby cidery called Wild Kin in Ridgefield, Washington.
