Jessica Fischer ’18 and Nathan Christy ’14, ’18 were married on October 12, 2024, in Auburn, N.Y.—and in a meaningful twist, they invited their former advisor, Dr. Lucas Craig, to officiate the ceremony.
“We were reminded that if Nate hadn’t chosen to return to SUNY Canton to earn his bachelor’s degree, we never would’ve met in Dr. Craig’s Thermodynamics class years ago,” Jessica shared. “It was a really neat full-circle moment with plenty of Canton alumni around. We even used the hammer we made in Manufacturing class to seal a time capsule box during the ceremony.”
Following their wedding, Jessica and Nate established the Fischer-Christy Endowed Scholarship, which supports students pursuing Mechanical Engineering Technology—a fitting tribute to the program that brought them together.
